Written with AI, checked against clear rules, and read by a person.
Our stories are written with the help of AI, and the pictures are made with AI too.
Every story then has to pass a set of checks, and is read by a person, before it goes into
the library. If a story fails a check, it is rewritten.
What we check
Length. Each level has a set number of words. A Level 1 story has 30 to
55 words; a Level 12 story has 575 to 735.
How hard it is to read. We measure how long the sentences are and how hard
the words are, so each story sits at its level, not above it.
Early reading. At Levels 1 and 2, stories use the sounds and word patterns
children are learning to read.
The questions. Every story has 5 to 8 questions. Early levels ask what
happened; higher levels ask more about why it happened. At Level 12, about two in three
questions are “why” questions.
The answers. Every answer choice comes with a short explanation, so a child
learns from a wrong answer, not just a right one.
Right for children. Every story is checked to be suitable for the age it is
written for.
Why AI?
It lets us write many stories at every level, in every kind (fables, true stories, facts and
more), and keep adding new ones each month. The checks, and the person who reads every story,
are what make them right for your child.
Something not right?
If a story has a mistake, or doesn’t feel right for your child, tell us at
support@kvalabs.com and we’ll fix it. You can request a story there too.
